Inspiration for your luxury sustainable wedding

If you are wanting to design a luxury sustainable wedding and are in need of ideas for how your suppliers can create magic whilst also being kind to the environment, then you've come to the right place for some of the most incredible inspiration from London's finest suppliers. As a luxury wedding planner covering London and the Home Counties, I was delighted to be invited to experience first hand the most beautiful demonstration of sustainability in action at the incredible venue Wilderness Reserve in Suffolk.

At the beginning of the year, in a time before the words Covid-19, self-isolating and face masks peppered our everyday language, a hand-picked group of industry professionals came together for a day and a night of discovery, networking and celebration hosted by the inimitable Wildabout at the epic Wilderness Reserve.

Conservation and sustainability are central tenets to the ethos at Wilderness, and this was echoed throughout the designs by our hosts. This event was designed not only an opportunity for wedding industry folks to come together to discover, explore, network and celebrate but as a beautiful and clever display of sustainability at every touchpoint - a topic which, as an industry, is frequently at the forefront of our collective minds.

Not only did our hosts and their collaborators excel themselves by really flexing their combined creative muscles throughout the design of the event, and wow us with luxurious details at every turn, but it was all achieved with sustainability as the core message and minimising environmental impact at the heart of the experience.

If you thought luxury and sustainability were mutually exclusive, think again.

The incredible stationery suite designed and produced by Intricate Creations featured quite possibly the best invitation I have ever received - a bespoke wooden box branded with Couture Events on the lid which when opened revealed a 3D tableau of our venue complete with houses, a lake and even a signpost! On arrival at the venue, guests found individual welcome letters on their beds and when we sat for dinner, our menu was made from engraved wood wrapped in seed paper - which was designed to be replanted afterwards to create a lasting living memento of the event. Every single item was made from either from recycled card, seed paper and even carved wood, and incredibly no ink was used all - instead laser cutting & engraving techniques were used to incredible effect.

The floral designs by Wildabout - in a combination of dried and fresh flowers - featured a multitude of natural, muted tones with bold metallics, and naturally no floral foam anywhere. The combined effect was utterly beautiful.

The beautiful table settings featured a statement copper charger plate framed with delicate copper cutlery; our drinks were served in a heavyweight amber water goblet perfectly partnered with elegant twisted glassware.

In all, an absolutely breath-taking demonstration of sustainability in action - and food for thought for us all. Thank you so much to our hosts Wilabout and all their collaborators credited below.
