Couture loves .... autumn

Your Autumn wedding inspiration starts here!

We absolutely adore the changing of the seasons, and as we move into Autumn, we embrace this magic time after the hustle and bustle of summer but before the stress and pressure of Christmas. This is the time when we can transition into an altogether calmer, more tranquil period, echoed by a colour palette of soft earthy tones and rich golden hues, the stunning glow effect thanks to the seasonal position of the sun, and the creation of cosiness with crackling fires and twinkling candles.

Autumn is a fabulous season in which to hold your wedding - not getting married in peak season means you are more likely to have higher guest attendance and you’ll certainly benefit from less exhausted vendors - so read on for ideas for how you can really have fun with your Autumn wedding styling …

FLORAL DESIGN

Autumn offers beautiful flowers with rich tones and sculptural textures. You have the option of embracing the traditional burnt oranges and warm reds, or following a palette of deeper jewel tones or perhaps keeping it more neutral. These days, although it is possible to obtain nearly every variety of flower all year round, we always encourage our couples to work with seasonal blooms - not only in order to get more bang for their buck but also naturally as its the more sustainable choice. We recommend considering anemone, aster, astilbe, carnation, chocolate cosmos, dahlia, delphinium, freesia, gypsophilia, hydranagea, lilies, lisianthus, orchids, ranunculus and roses. We love these arrangements below by the lovely Jenni Bloom (@jennibloomflowers).

BRIDESMAID DRESSES

A wonderful way to link your bridal party styling to gilded accents within wider elements such as your stationery, cake design or table styling by incorporating warm golds and rich caramel tones in their dresses and accessories. We love these dresses by Grace Loves Lace (@grace_loves_lace)

SEASONAL MENU

Truly embrace the season by incorporating pumpkins and autumnal root vegetables into your menu - we love these miniature pumpkins served as individual starter dishes but you could also consider canapes such as mini pumpkin and ricotta tarts with spiced honeys or Gorgonzola Canapés with Pumpkin and Mushroom. Alternatively you could have fun with your cocktails by incorporating seasonal spices into the ingredients to create a pumpkin spiced White Russian or a pumpkin spiced Old Fashioned.

Autumnal Styling

When we think of Autumn, we tend to dream about rustic reds, burnt oranges and swathes of yellow, with textures full of twigs and berries with accents of copper and gold.

When planning your wedding decor, think about bringing the outside in - so don't be afraid to make your indoor space as golden as the changing landscapes outside. We love these golden trees from @twilighttrees which really make a statement whether installed as standalone feature installations in the middle of a reception room, or behind your bar, or whether smaller individual trees are used as stunning table centres. Don’t forget to layer up those fabrics, textures and elements of warmth - offering blankets or pashminas for firework displays or smokers, hot toddies or a pumpkin latte station, and of course lots and lots of candlelight!
