A burst of colour - Cliveden House & Hedsor House

Organising a wedding can seem one of the most daunting experiences in our lives to that point. We were well over a year away and wanted it to be that magical blend of natural, unplanned bliss. How do we achieve that with originality and our very personal marks on everything? In a shifting landscape of Covid the task seemed insurmountable. We had over 45 friends and family arriving from all over the world and a hundred more locally. How would it ever be achieved? How would we make all the decisions? We interviewed a number of wedding planners over the course of a month and Susannah was the most natural fit for us. She seemed to intuitively understand our requirements; the subtle blend of wow factors combined with something that felt incredibly natural, organic, original and combined a little of Brazil with the traditional British country wedding. Coming to grips with all these choices with Susannah was incredibly easy. We both work long hours and Susannah had enormous respect for that, she would bring ideas to us in regular evening meetings at our house and in various west London locals. We chatted easily and she came up with endless ideas and visualisations of the days we had planned. As the months drifted by we were given specific tasks to do, all seemed achievable and she was always at hand to help. Susannah seems to work all hours, and answers txt messages within minutes. We never could work out how. As the day came closer the final touches were made – brides and grooms will always change their minds and we were no exception, let alone all the guests contacting her with last minute demands! With her depth of contacts and relationships across the hospitality and entertainment industries nothing seemed in-surmountable, not even a last minute secret firework display in the middle of the driest summer to date. Who knew that a wedding planner who could organise a fire engine to be on standby with only hours left to spare? She was mentioned many times and in our speeches over those two magical days, and will forever be known as ‘Susannah the Wedding Planner’. Thank you so much for making our day so very special. She has become a good friend and will be used for helping us with parties in the future. Is there anyone else who knows our requirements so well?

The Brief

Colourful, untamed & laid back was the order of the day for this fun-loving couple. An intimate rehearsal dinner at the epic Cliveden House followed by a wedding at iconic Hedsor, with emphasis on throwing out the rulebook, weaving in lots of inimitable personal elements and having lots of fun.

The Finer Details

Relaxed and wildly romantic with plenty of colour and  subtle references to A’s Brazilian roots dotted throughout. With both of them juggling busy professional lives, and a baby on the way, we streamlined the process as much as possible – working around their work schedules and often meeting in the pub after work – and worked with a number of Brazilian creatives to create a truly authentic experience.

Highlight

Customised Havainas for every guest, printed with extracts of the hand-painted elements from the stationery suite - and my first taste of Brazilian Brigadeiros!
